Four Seasons from Above in Downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana

Business

Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter of Our City

With our newest drone being capable of flying in colder temperatures, I was able to finish a collection I have been working on for over 8 years - capturing an aerial photograph of downtown Fort Wayne’s Courthouse in all four seasons!

This was the first winter with our new drone, and this winter didn’t make it easy on us, being a very mild winter with very few snow days. I waited patiently for all the necessary conditions: (1) Clean, fresh new snow layer, (2) Clear sky’s, and (3) Still couldn’t be TOO cold.

There was a single day this winter that met all three of those conditions, and I was ready for it! I’m excited to share my favorite aerial image of the Courthouse in all 4 seasons below, as well as some other favorite aerial SNOW images from that day (since it was my first time ever flying over snow, I wanted to use my drone as much as I could).

If you want to use any of these images, just browse any of the Stock Photography websites online and we’re on there (Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Getty Stock, Canva, Alamy, and 12+ others!).

Which season is your favorite in The Fort?

The OG - Summer of 2015

The OG - Summer of 2015

This was my first iconic aerial of the Courthouse taken in Summer.
Fall of 2023

Fall of 2023

My favorite shot for Fall incorporates all the trees around Freimann Square.
Spring of 2023

Spring of 2023

Representing Spring in our downtown is tricky but the trees are still light green and the soft morning light to me encapsultes the entrance of the season.
Winter of 2024

Winter of 2024

I was really happy with how downtown pops when blanketed in snow.
Freimann Square

Freimann Square

I loved the shadows of trees crossing over the empty water installation here, clean with geometric shapes.
Wells Street Bridge

Wells Street Bridge

Also a tricky spot to capture with all of those darn powerlines, but this has been the best aerial angle I've found for Wells Street Bridge that also incorporates downtown and Promenade Park.
Neighborhood Cul-de-sac by Lake

Neighborhood Cul-de-sac by Lake

This is strangly one of my favorites, I love the car tracks on the snowy road, the mostly ice-covered lake, and the overall cold tone.
Neighborhood Sunset

Winter sunsets are a great way to add warmth to a cold image.
Promenade Park

Promenade Park

Straight down with the river covered in snow, almost tricking you into not knowing it's a river!
