Exploring Abandoned Bloomington, Indiana
Quarries and Old Zoom Floom
Anyone that follows my blog can quickly tell I enjoy exploring abandoned and decaying places of any kind - from amusement parks to hospitals. It has been some time since I have gone anywhere of interest, as it feels like all of the main locations near my area have been explored or demolished. However, I did manage to find a couple spots of interest in Bloomington, Indiana.
On the top of my list was exploring an abandoned quarry. I was fascinated with this location that I spotted off of the highway. It was a bit tricky to navigate through, as it was very overgrown. But we were rewarded with a couple abandoned structures and sights of the empty quarries below.
The other main location was Old Zoom Floom, a location that did not conform to a typical abandoned location that I have been, in that it has an actual Google Maps listing with photos! The extensive old waterslide is 100% covered in graffiti and is an interesting sight to see. Within a 1/4 mile of this location is Dome Cabin. It took us much too long to find this location, as signs warning of active hunters had us detour to the coast a bit and circle around. Ultimately, we gave up before finally stumbling upon it on the way back - only to find that it has since collapsed and lost most of its interest. But, that was better than never finding it!
